Dans ses photos comme dans ses vid\u00e9os, l\u2019artiste am\u00e9ricaine (n\u00e9e en 1960 \u00e0 Brooklyn, New York) se sert de son appareil pour soulever de multiples interrogations sur l\u2019identit\u00e9 et le sexe, les genres et l\u2019histoire, la race et la classe sociale, le fait et la fiction, le souvenir et le sens des choses.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"460\" height=\"259\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dailymotion.com\/embed\/video\/x114g07?foreground=%23FFFFFF&#038;highlight=%23FFF6D9&#038;background=%23666666\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Dans les ann\u00e9es 1980 et 1990, le travail de Lorna Simpson est rendu c\u00e9l\u00e8bre par ses photographies et films qui bousculent les conventions autour du genre, de l\u2019identit\u00e9, de la culture et de la m\u00e9moire.<br \/>\nDans l\u2019ensemble de ses \u0153uvres, l\u2019artiste aborde la repr\u00e9sentation complexe du corps noir, \u00e0 travers diff\u00e9rents m\u00e9diums tandis que ses textes donnent une signification toujours ouverte \u00e0 l\u2019imagination du spectateur.<br \/>\nDans ses derniers travaux, Lorna Simpson int\u00e8gre des images d\u2019archives qu\u2019elle r\u00e9invente en se positionnant elle-m\u00eame en tant que sujet. Comme l\u2019artiste le souligne : \u201c<em>Le th\u00e8me vers lequel je tends le plus souvent est le souvenir. Mais au-del\u00e0 de ce sujet, le fil conducteur commun est ma relation au texte et aux id\u00e9es autour de la repr\u00e9sentation<\/em>.\u201c (L.
